It was Tuesday of Holy Week. Jesus was in the temple courts, teaching the people. Everyone was trying to get a piece of him—some with good intentions, others vile.
It happens to all of us. We fail a test. We don’t get the girl or guy. We drop the ball, lose a job, or lose a significant amount of money. At some point, we all lose.
What do you think is the biggest threat to our country today? Not surprising, there are many opinions on that topic.
Have you ever had just one of those weeks where everything seems to go wrong? The car breaks down. The fridge goes out. An unexpected medical expense shows up.
I recently came across a feature from Reader’s Digest called, “10 Inspiring Stories of Extreme Forgiveness.” The stories ranged from families of murder victims to culture clashes in war-torn Rwanda to fatal car accidents to abuse victims.
It may truly be the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that God is giving us today. The door is open, the time is now; may God help us and guide us to make the most of this opportunity!
There’s almost always more than one way to do something, right? “There’s more than one way to skin a cat.” “There’s more than one way to crack an egg.” “There’s more than one way to eat a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.”
If I were to tell you to picture in your mind going down to the lake, for most of us a smile would automatically cross our faces. Our shoulders would relax. Our stress would go down.
“Clearly, the hand of the Lord was with him.” That’s how our gospel ends for today. It’s quite the statement about an 8 day old child.
Summer is nearly upon us. Many of us are done with school. Some have just a week to go. The weather is consistently warmer. The mosquitoes are buzzing. And with summer comes sunflower season—at least for me.
