A list of our monthly blog posts

Blessed be the Lord, who has not let us be prey for their teeth. Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. – Psalm 124: 6 & 8
I love November. Let me rephrase. I love to eat in the month of November. There’s buttery corn on the cob, discounted Halloween candy, spicy chili with all the fixings, Thanksgiving dinner with all those wonderful sides, and pumpkin pie swimming in cool whip. November is a foodie paradise. Thank God for all the nourishment he gives to our bodies! We have full use of our senses: seeing and smelling and touching and tasting all the deliciousness of November feasts!
November is also a month that begins the holiday season. As the winds pick up and the chance for snow becomes a more familiar forecast, we are able to gather in safety and warmth with loved ones. Truly these are special moments and blessings given to us by our God who so wondrously provides and protects us.
These blessings from God were not lost on King David, the author of our Psalm. He had seen his share of hardship and warfare. He had gone without and been on the run. He had foreign enemies, internal enemies in his own family, and a sinful flesh waging war against himself. He battled and struggled and sometimes fell to sin.
But all was not lost! He clearly knew and rejoiced in the help and salvation of our God. The same God who spared him from his enemies and the early grave. The same God who gave him safety, shelter, food, and family. The same God who promised to send a Savior to take away his sins and who would reign on David’s throne in full control for eternity. We know that promised Savior to be God’s own Son, Jesus.
Take a moment this November as you come in from the cold and pull up to the table. Look around at the food and family and friends. Thank God for the warm house and the abundant cornucopia of daily blessings we enjoy. And praise God with your family for the help and salvation he has given to you in Jesus. Truly, this month it is clear that our God has given to us “countless gifts of love and still is ours today”.
